Asthma in Southwest Alaska

Asthma-related morbidity and mortality is significantly higher among minority populations in the United States, but little research has examined the disease among Native American populations. During 1999 and 2000, I joined a team of anthropologists, epidemiologists and clinicians from the University of Arizona, the University of Washington and the Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation to examine asthma among Yup’ik children in the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta of southwestern Alaska.

More details to come.
